If you sprinkle it on the ground along their travel corridors that you are planning on hunting you should have good results. It wont really "draw" them there, but it will probably slow them down long enough to get a good shot off.

Not a big deer hunter and I'm sure you'll get much better responses, but I'd scout and figure out where they are bedding, get some cameras and pattern them (or try to). Hang a couple stands nearby so you can hunt different winds and put the corn near your stand or past it so you catch them heading that way.

if they get it repeatedly in those lanes, i.e. i put it in the same spots and they keep eating it...will it change their patterns like a feeder?

I got a lane cut I look down. I know where they cross the lane. I scatter some there, about 5 or 10 pounds a day or 2 before I hunt.

If one crosses it'll stop them about 15 or 20 seconds while the grab a bite or two and continue on. That's when you get your shot in that little window of opportunity...

No, it wont change their patterns. A feeder becomes a destination, usually at night. Scattered corn is more like browsing and it's more natural to them. You have to know where they are first though.

you can either train them with a timed feeder or you can sprinkle a little so they will hit the brakes for a shot

That's right. I'm a sprinkler, because a big buck is probably not gonna come to a feeder... not in my part of LA anyway.

Also, corn is expensive as all get out these days...

If it's legal to hunt over corn then you're good. Just dump some on the ground a day or two before you hunt.

Hunting over bait is illegal in some parts of town. I got a kick out of this the other day
