Pure black German Shepherds

I am interested in a black male GSD for family dog and home protection in the next few months. Any known proven breeders in the TX, LA, MS, AL areas y'all could point me to? Will drive up to 4-5 hrs one way...do not really want to have one shipped. I have scoured the internet and have somewhat located advertised breeders, want to be confident I am getting registered bloodlines.
Any pointers much appreciated.

I have a female all black German shepherd we got it from PSD kennels in picyune?/ poplarville. Been a great dog much better than the dutch shepherd we had from them.

I understand that you want an all black, but I would be focusing on a quality breeder with quality to bloodlines in any color they have available. I will admit that the black ones for beautiful dogs, but as I understand it they are not all the common. I would stay away from solid white because the ones that I have seen they tend to be neurotic. I have no knowledge of any breeders in the states you listed, I bought mine from a litter in South Georgia.

I agree with the your commit on the bloodlines. They have great german bloodlines at PSD most are working dogs. Bushwacker just be ready for the high drive. They sell them as puppies and older with some training. Had great customer service.

As a former owner of a HIGHLY bred ($$$) GSD, I wholeheartedly endorse this position - get the best bloodline you can (avoiding all the extreme angulation that was/is popular in the show ring), with the best hips and personality you can, and forget about coat color.

They're not to any reputable breed standard, either, AFAIK. A purely boutique strain, bred purely for appearance (to a lesser degree, this is true of the solid black, but anecdotally, the solid black are truer to breed expectations, overall).
I would never pick an animal to be part of my family, with the destructive potential of a medium or large dog based on appearance.
#1 Temperment for purpose
#2 Genetic health
#3 Other attributes (including champion bloodlines, appearance, angulation, etc.)

I agree. My female GSD had a reputable bloodline and I saw the health checkup for her dame and sire. Her sire was Czech bloodline and was the police drug dog for Treutlen County, GA. Her dame was German line but had a good temperment for the time we got to spend with her. My girl according to my vet is probably one of the more mellow GSD he has seen, but she is still watchful of strangers until she gets to know them. Now if someone she doesn't know gets around me son she can get protective in a hurry.

I have a solid white GSD and while I agree that you shouldn't buy based on color, this dog has one of the best temperaments I've ever seen in a Shepherd. I guess I could say I lucked out.
