I bought a gallon of brake fluid yesterday. Hopefully that gets me through it. I'm pretty pissed off that I have to bring it to a shop the bleed the ABS module since I don't live close to any cow pastures I could use anymore

Changing all of my brakes, rotors, and soft lines on my truck now. Guess I'll look into this gizmo. Going to be some serious brake bleeding going on.

It's worth it if you do vehicle maintenance often.

As others have said, you can do the manual bleed method with a bottle to prevent air getting in, but this one gives you the view of seeing exactly what you're doing so you don't waste any fluid.

But to each his own. At least there are tons of methods for people to choose from.

They are excellent on all but the older GM MCs with the large flat covers. I've been using a hand vacuum that attaches to the bleeders, which is a great alternative.

Man, I needed one of those the other day!

Just replaced a rear caliper on a Miata, and it took forever to pump/bleed until we got it... and I'm still not 100% sure we got it all.

I've pulled about a half a gallon of fluid through my truck so far and still only have about 1/2 of a pedal

I'm bringing mine somewhere next week. No patience for shite like this.

The motive pump makes it unbelievably fast. But yea if you don't have it, it's definitely a much bigger pain in the arse.

I got mine done eventually by myself with the little hand vacuum pump. Ended up having to put pipe dope on the bleeder threads to get it to quit pulling air past them. Took close to a gallon of fluid before I got the pedal all the way back.

I've heard advice of putting some teflon thread locker on the bleeder valves before putting vacuum on them. But for me, I just did the motive then did the manual two person bleed method - no air in the lines that I can feel with a smooth, hard pedal.

I don't see how it can be done without something to restrict air past the bleeder threads. The little hand pump just doesn't pull enough volume to make up for the air sneaking by. After I had it blocked off it went much quicker. I probably wasted a quart fighting the air before I figured out what was going on.

Well like I said if you seal them with teflon tape it can restrict some of that airflow. Plus having someone force the air out of each piston with a few pedal pushes would be helpful for that final bleed.
