Powder post beetles - anyone ever deal with these critters?

Orkin man came by the other day for termite inspection, and not only are they eating my house , but he said I have powder post beetles.
$1566 to treat my 2100sf house for termites. BUT he said $900 to treat for the beetles.
I found that to treat them, it's only a spray that goes directly on wood surface. They are under my house (built in '40s, 100% wood, elevated about 4ft). Timbor or Boracare are the two most popular treatments with Timbor about $100/25# bucket. This will cover over 3000sf.
Question is-- has anyone ever self treated for these damn beetles, and if so, what did you use? Cost? Was it effective?
TIA
