I'm disappointed in all of you for not directing OP to the Pond Boss Forum for help. Of course we all knew this would turn into a NF pond bashing thread, but OP needs help damnit.

I'm interested in this as well. My family is thinking about doing a 5-6 acre pond depending on cost. Hopefully it will be $30k or less.

it really really really depends on the land and location of your pond site. from my research, its nearly impossible to quote a price range without a LOT of details.

i.e. my dad had a great low lying spot where all he had to do was build a dam and get the rest below the topsoil line...and boom, pond.

A little bit. My dad is a sales rep for Caterpillar so I've messed around on equipment a few times. We would have one of his customers do the dirt work but the ranch is halfway across the state and those guys would have to see the place to even give us an estimate. Local guy said the price was entirely dependent on what he finds during the test dig. I'm just curious to find a ballpark of what would be a fair price.

Took contractor 13 days to excavate our 10' deep 1 surface acre pond, build shop pad, house pad and pile up excess dirt in South La.
All excavated soil remained on our property
