Could I get some suggestions on where to take my two boys fishing in the Houston area, particularly on the north west side. Possibly around Brenham,TX. I would love to get into a mess of crappie. Kids are 14 and 11. Thanks

If you want to have a hoot drive down to Surfside, get some popping corks and #8 treble and a pint of "Live" shrimp.
Christmas bay is on the north side of the highway .
Wade out waist deep and throw the live shrimp out and pop the cork, you will catch all kinds of stuff from Redfish, Trout, Flounder , sheeps head etc etc
I lived in Cypress and used to do this all the time

I have fished Fayette many times. It is a good lake but a boat is a must.

Lake Somerville State Park...easy access bank fishing for kids, and a couple of piers with brush piles that should hold crappie. great camping and easy hiking trails for the kids should the fishing not be on, too.
