Several posters (Faxis, Bleeding Purple) have offered advice and/or detailed instructions on these devices in prior posts. I have used you guys advice, and built my first one yesterday. Problem is, I can't remember what you said to do about hole size and spacing in the corn section of the pipe.

How big? How far apart?

Do you cut them at 90 degrees around the pipe, or 180 degrees?

Please advise, and thanks!

5/8" holes. I think four of them would be about perfect but I put five on my first one. I just drilled a hole, moved a little ways down and turned it, rinse and repeat till you have a hole down no matter how it's sitting.

I like 11/16" holes and like to alternate rings of 4 and 5 holes around the pipe every 6".

Faxis is dead on.

1/2 to 3/4 holes are good and put as many as you like depending on how fast you want to refill it. If pigs know there is food they will be in it regardless.

That thing on the ground is a pig pipe. It's like a big arse Kong toy that dispenses treats.

The temptation is to put too many holes. Don't do it. They will work that thing for however long there's corn in it and even after then if you're smart and you put a trapdoor with holes in it on one end with attractant and rocks in it to make it sound and smell like there's more.

They'll work that thing for hours.

That's genius. I raised pigs when I was a kid and I can easily see a pig pushing that thing around for hours

Once they get after it mine lasts two or three days. They still come in after that to check it though.

One of our rifle seasons opened Monday in SC, but it is too hot too hunt. Thanks again.

I got some questions about this thing. The ends of the pipe, are those just threaded caps? I see its secured to a piece of rebar with a rope. Whats the best way to attach the rope to the pipe. And last question, what is the length of the pipe

I just bought a ten foot length of pipe and cut it in half. Yes those are just caps on each end that you can unscrew. I got an eye bolt and some washers and some glue and put that loosely through one cap and glued the lock nut in place on the inside so it had plenty of slop to rotate but a swivel would work just as well. On the other end of the rope I put a snap swivel like on a dog leash. Welded ring you can drop onto the rebar and some rope.

Don't forget the container on the other end for attractant and rocks. Put a floor in there that you have drilled holes into so the scent will flow out but you won't get much liquid transfer into the corn chamber. You need to use dry corn for these so it doesn't cake up inside.

Put it out and they WILL find it.
