I know deer (and other wildlife) love persimmons , so I
picked up a bunch and tossed them around my feeder .
Anyone have good results with this in the past ?

The seeds do best when they pass through an animal Collect some out of some coon shite and they will sprout quickly (yes I am serious)

You can also use an acid solution to simulate passing through the animal

Deer love persimmon--and not just the fruit either.

Deer will eat saplings--to the ground!! The young growth is a favorite of deer.

Bought some persimmons ground up in a bag at Baker range last week. Put out with some corn on Sunday and never had this many deer on Camera the last day and a half. Don’t know if that’s it or not but seems to be working

Deer love them on my family's land but don't eat them until first frost due to the bitterness

I had always heard the "first frost" too , but these were beginning to drop . Picked up 1 - it was soft - so I tried it . Very sweet - not astringent at all . We have not had anything close to a frost

My Dad told a story of when he was a young boy sitting in the woods by a persimmon tree. he said deer would come by the herds looking for fruit on the ground and never would pick them off the tree even the low hanging easy to reach ones he told me he killed many deer as they stood there waiting for fruit to drop. When I was old enough he took me there sadly all we could find was the stump of the old tree.

Also, there are male and female trees. Problem there, you never know which is which.

Oh, right now I have a over grown field that has 100's on small ones growing in it. Anywhere from 2' to 6'. Anybody want to come and dig them up to transplant is more then welcome. New Roads area. If not, once it gets cold, I am going to clip that field.
