re: Outdoor Board Great Outdoor Scenery
These are not my photos, but other areas in Alaska.

Mt. St. Elias. 18,000+ feet.

Gates of the Arctic NP. Brooks Range, Ak. Awesome unspoiled and seldom seen country.

The high one, Denali. Denali N.P. Been in the park over a dozen times. the mountain is so massive I could see it from my house in Big Lake almost 200 miles away.

Wrangell St. Elias NP, at six million acres, the nations largest. It is connected to Kluane in the Yukon/BC and Glacier Bay in Alaska, making one of the , if not the largest world heritage parks.

Aniachak Caldera. Least visited public land in the U.S. Going rafting out of the caldera and down to sea level this summer.

Was near there once many many moons ago. Fished outside of Clearwater. Hoping to go back and spend alot more time and do alot more fishing one day. Probably the most beautiful land I've ever been in. It was August and the weather was awesome.

You can only drive in about 8 miles unless you get special permission. The park bus takes you to Wonder Lake though. You can get dropped off and hike wherever you want. First time I went there we drove as far as we could go (8 miles in) and saw Toklat Grizzlys, Fox, Dall Sheep, Lenticular clouds and at the last minute, the mountain. Awe inspiring experience.

I've changed my background on my laptop 4 or 5 times while reading this thread.

There are some incredible places in this country. You just have to get off the beaten path to see many of them.

Thought I would just throw this one in for fun, its what happens when you live in bear country and they decide they want in the house. Our first bear encounter last year, at a neighbors.

Juneau Ice Field. It's just behind town and extends over the Canadian Border, about 30 miles away. It is about 1500 sq miles in area and up to a mile thick.
