If you were smart you'd put the Laffy part in the title.

I would take it to Fortier in new Iberia. Have had poor experiences at Redmonds and none at the prop shop.

What brand of outboard motor? From my own personal experience I stay away from those places who claim to work on all outboard brands. They can really mess things up and cause brand new issues when they are finished. I only go to places that specialize in specific outboard engines.

If your motor is a Johnson or Evinrude I know a shop in Metatie that is great and is worth the drive to have it done right.

Guidry's Marine in Scott.

Great guy, very reasonably priced.

I second Redmonds. He swapped a Yammy for an old Merc for me and couldn't be happier with the rigging job.

In fact, I still own the old Grady white with an old busted mercury that is still in his boat yard for nearly 3 years.

I use Kris Gumpert, but it's been a little while. If he still does it, he is the best bang for the buck I've ever dealt with but he does it on the side so it may take some time depending on what else he has going on.

ETA: I can contact him if you're interested to see if he does it and what his schedule looks like.

Yeah, I've used Fortier's also because I've got an older Johnson. Good people and they know their Evinrudes/Johnsons.

I can agree with this. Kind of the "Jack of all trades, master of none" situation.

I'd rather someone who specializes in one brand, hence why I use Fortier Marine.

Yep 85-90 is standard labor methinks. I had to take mine back there when their lead tech failed to fix a fuel pump issue on my Yamaha, I got stranded again after I picked it up and took it back. He went to run it and got stranded, LOL, then he fixed it properly.

I use Mike's now they are also 5 star Yammy.

Had a bad dealing with them too. Not using them anymore. They kept my plug and when I asked for it back they told me I didn't have one.
I asked them how the frick you think my boat got here, at which time they found it.
They hooked up my wiring for the GPS and it didn't work. Had to get someone else to fix it.

Not sure if he's still in business but he built several race motors for us.
