Looking for some OB knowledge on licensing for Bowhunting Illinois. I will be heading up that way in a couple of weeks for a 5 day hunt. My question is if anyone knows if they sell a 5 day permit similar to Louisiana or if I would have to buy the license for the season which is about 450 bucks. Either way it will have to be paid but I also know I won’t be going back after the 5 day hunt. Any help is appreciated

Former central IL resident here...as far as I know you still have to purchase a full season permit. Trust me, the state desperately needs your money bc of their terrible debt lol. Either way, good luck and have fun. Great deer hunting throughout the state (minus Cook county). What part of the state are you traveling to?

I go yearly and yes you have to buy a license for the season. There is no 5 day license. And be sure to enter your tag info at the time of harvest and at the end of the year, around February 15 because if you do not you are not eligible to hunt the following year.

Check it out here. IDNR

I got permits for the first firearm weekend through the lottery. 3 days only. It was $325. That is for 2 deer, either sex and 1 antlerless. It was some seriously specific clicking I had to go through to get it right. That may have been because it was a lottery for the firearm, though. It is also County by County not a blanket permit/license (or at least the firearm was). Got step by step instructions from local who I am hunting with. Probably best to give them a call and they can walk you through it.

Or just do what he said because he knows more than me.
