Headed out of Fourchon on Saturday in search of whatever we could find. Caught a bunch of red snapper on the way out. Decided to go to a sunken platform and see what we could do. As we were pulling up to it a tuna busted the water. Really weird for where we were. Dropped a few lines and started trolling. Every time we would pull over the platform we would catch red snapper. It was strange, pulling at 4.5 knots and hammering big red snapper while trolling. Ended up going to a platform nearby. Started catching huge red snapper, bull reds and white trout. Caught three white trout over 20 inches. Went back to troll the reef and caught some more red snapper and 2 nice kings. Lost about 5 or 6 other kings. All in all we caught somewhere around 45 red snapper, 6 bullreds, 3 white trout, a ramera (spelling?) and a few other misc fish.

We couldn't keep the red snapper off our lines. We were hoping for mangroves but we would catch red snapper as soon as we would drop our lines.

Too early for mangroves.

We tried for grouper this weekend in 300 foot area where we caught some on a reef last year

Caught 4 15-20 pound red snapper using white trout as bait and called its day and headed south

Yea just catch and release on the snapper. We were just in the mood to go offshore. My freezer is always filled with fish so its not a big deal. I wanted to go catch some AJs and grouper but it was a little bit too choppy to go much farther.

We were wnw of the miss canyon saturday. 1-2 footers but the wind was out the west around 9 and I didn't want to go farther with the chance of getting into 2-3s. (we were in a 22ft blackjack)

I was on the same boat as big hoss and we came back with 5 YFT and caught as many blackfin as we wanted. We were in a 31 cape horn though so the seas weren't really an issue. We did blow an engine on the ride back in and could only go 10 MPH for like 70 miles and trolled the whole way
