I went back and looked, it was Jim rockfords thread. My bad. It had that smell of muscle rub and moth balls so I thought it was you.

My local gunshop had M&P 15 optics ready for $720 a couple of weeks ago. The ones they just got in are priced at $1100 now. Hate to see what the new Colt LE 6920 will be.

I started my 300 BLK SBR build today and I'm wondering why I didn't get into this a LONG time ago. In preparation I went out and bought $100 of small screwdrivers, picks, allen wrenches, pliers, ect. I used two of them. If I had a vice and spare spring that I lost, my first build would have taken 1.5 hours. No shite.

I learned two lessons. Spring kits are cheap. Buy an extra for when you inevitably lose a spring. Also, you're going to need a vice for torquing the barrel. Jamming a big screwdriver in the upper and standing on it while torquing is a recipe for disaster. Mooch off of your neighbor or whatever; just use one.

Anyone have an opinion on any of the aftermarket AR things pertaining to the guts, e.g. upgraded bolt carrier, upgraded bolt, anti-walking pins?

My first thought when I looked at their website was "Damn their proud of their stuff", but then I saw the disclosure that the prices are jacked up because they're working they're people extra and such. I wouldn't buy it now, but in a couple months when the prices come down it looks good.

This is part of the item description
quote:

Unless you want to have one now due to an anticipated ban, we encourage all customers to not order at the temporarily higher price and to wait until our supply has stabilized to meet demand, at which time (barring any contrary legislation) we look forward to returning the price to normal.

A good hard aluminum that's forged, looks like a solid receiver. I like that upper receiver tension screw they add in to it. Wonder what the non jacked up price is on those.

FedEx just rang the door for my Bushnell MP Trophy sight I ordered from cabelas.

Gotta order a rail adapter from standard to picatinny. Just gonna get the bottom adapter instead of the full quad rail.

Several of us bought new stripped lowers today, to (hopefully) be shipped before the end of the month.

Would appreciate any of you fine gents that could help us be on the lookout for deals. I know I am pretty religiously checking slickguns, bayoushooter, gun-deals, and PSA, but extra eyes on whatever sites you guys frequent would be much appreciated

I'm in the process of building my first AR. So far I have built a complete lower.

I had planned on buying a complete upper (minus BCG and CH) per the suggestions on this board.

If I buy a stripped upper and barrel separately will this be something I can handle?

I am fairly mechanically savvy but understand that there are more in depth issues that I am unfamiliar with, i.e. headspace and such.

Best thing to do is get on every email list you can and be prepared to move quick. Aim Surplus had 16" Spikes tactical uppers in stock today with BCG for $509 + shipping. They sold out in less than 20 minutes.

I started my build before all the madness. I had planned on getting a complete upper from PSA before christmas but gifts (for others) got in the way.

Bravo Company has stripped uppers and barrels in stock at the moment.

Wondering if I should jump on it and build the upper individually, or am I just buying into the panic.
