Before you buy any bulk steel cased, run a box or two through yours to make sure it likes it. Other than that, get the cheapest brass you can find. I usually stick with the 55gr, but that's a personal preference. Also, check with your local range before you shoot M855 62gr. Some ranges don't like the steel penetrators.

Isn't some brass bad though? Leaves more residue, bad specs, etc.

Haven't been today. Everything is normally gone within a few hours of opening. The good stuff (.22LR and .223/556) is normally gone after 30min-1hr

Precision Range just received a truckload of Ammo. 9MM($20 for 50), .45., 22LR, 5.56, .223, etc..
PMAGs in stock too (around $40 each)
They'll let you buy as much as long as you're shooting it there.

Corrosive brass, but not much 5.56/.223 out there is corrosive.
Some people have an issue with steel, but I dont really. Just bough 1200 rounds of it myself, hell of a lot cheaper than the going rate for brass.

Lucky gunner did something like a 40,000 round test of steel case ammo in one AR and recommended it. I buy it with no qualms.

Steel case has had no effect on any of my firearms, I don't own an ar so can't comment on that, but I shoot the shite out of it with no problems.

I dont even bother going to academy anymore. I guess I can see somebody waiting outside of bass pro before they open if you want ammo that bad, but academy? You can buy one freaking box of ammo! Congrats buddy, you waited two hours out in the cold for some independence 5.56. you win.

Or you can get 1000 plus rounds of assorted stuff. Just depends on what you are looking for.
