I had a similar thought process, but I ended up deciding that cost really shouldn't matter in this tournament. A better gun is a better gun.
George Mason doesn't automatically beat Duke in the tournament because they spend 1/3 less money on basketball just to get in the same tournament.
ETA: and my reason for not picking the Nighthawk is because I don't like 1911's in 9mm. I think they're gimmicks. 1911's should be in .45 or 10 mm.

I don't think its a problem if someone decides to use value as a factor in determination of best. If they really don't see the value in the upgrade then i think it perfectly acceptable in choosing the other one. Best really is a subjective term.
