OVERVIEW
Join us Saturday, March 21st for the Marsh Madness Top Bag (MMTB) tournament at CocoMarina in Cocodrie, LA sponsored by Pack & Paddle, Duce Rods, Academy, Buggs Fishing, H&H lures, Abita Beer, Fish the Bayou, and K2 coolers. The MMTB is a Tackle-Exchange Tournament in which participants must fish with an angler’s bag of lures to be randomly drawn the morning of the tournament. Tournament entry fee is $25 or $30 (+ 1.25 via PayPal) and participation is open to the public. $5 of each entry goes to the Top Bag (TB) Pot and if the tournament winner uses your bag you win the TB Pot.

CATEGORIES
REDFISH STRINGER - Heaviest stringer shall consist of a maximum of 2 Slot Redfish (16”-27”).
OPTIONAL CALCUTTA ($5): Heaviest Speckled Trout wins the pot.
TOP BAG SIDE POT (included in entry fee) – See Rules below.

TOP BAG TACKLE RULES

Anglers must attend the TB tackle exchange at 5:30 AM Saturday at CocoMarina. Submit a clear Ziploc bag with your name printed clearly and include the lures listed below (#1 and #2). It is possible to pull your own bag so give this consideration when building your TB.
Top Bag Contents:
1. Eight (8) - plastic baits for your jig heads (mixing of colors and styles OK). Plastics must be new (Gulp allowed). Color and bait type variations encouraged (paddle tail, curly tail, etc).
2. One (1) - "wildcard" lure of your choice- e.g., top water plug, rat-l-trap, spinner bait, etc. Do not include plastics for jig heads as a wildcard.
So what else may I have with me? In addition to the TB pulled you may have the following: One (1) Wildcard Lure of your choice, Eight (8) jig heads/hooks, and One (1) Cork and leader material, nothing else. This means you will end up with 2 wildcard lures- the one from the TB and the one that you supply. All acceptable lures may be combined with each other but altering such as adding colors, dyes, scents, and sprays is not allowed.

Might as well if you'd be there anyway. There's 33 people registered now but they usually get a few joining in the last few days leading up. I'm sure other people are watching the weather before deciding.

You fish the tourney? Me and a buddy yak fished down there this weekend. Not much luck. I think I lost a pint of blood to gnats on Sat and the wind was brutal on Sun.

Yes I fished it. Finished 6th out of 66. Just out the money, but I was ok with how I did. I had two 24" fish by 7:30, but I couldn't cull anything bigger.

Nice!

Got 8 trout and a drum. Nothing big though. Normally I slaughter the redfish but didn't even catch a rat.

I wanted to try a new spot on Sat but didn't want to blow it up with 50 kayak fishermen in town. Tried it on Sun but it was too windy to fish.

I was wondering If you ended up fishing it. I was only about to catch one at about 7am and not a single thing the rest of the day. Ended up being good enough for 16th. Seems a lot of people struggled.

Yes I found some clean water full of widgeon grass. Had to drag my yak 50 yards to get to it. All sight casting in there. Probably caught 12 fish in there. Problem was they were all 16-20" fish. I didn't win any money. Top five places pay out so I just missed it.
