Just got home after all the bad weather and my garage doors won't open and they aren't lit up at all. Also, a plug in my basement isn't working.

We got a new deep freezer yesterday and it's plugged into the plug that doesn't work.

I checked the breakers and not a single one was tripped. I flipped all the garage/basement breakers and turned them back on. Nothing. I unplugged the deep freezer and did the same thing, still nothing.

I don't think the deep freezer did it because I figure it would have just tripped it.

Is this a lightning strike issue? What could be the problem? I'm electricity retarded btw.

Any GFI on that breaker? I think the garage doors have resets, I'll give those a shot.

Should only be 1 on that circuit. Should be in the garage somewhere.

There's a GFI right near the breaker box. I pressed reset and you can hear the garage door openers click but they turn right back off.

Garage doors go out often after a lightning strike, same with HVAC boards, modems, cordless phones. Check these items.

Did the gifci trip again?
Unplug garage door and reset it again.
You may need to unplug things one at a time a reset the gfci each time to find the issue.

your gfi outlet could be toast.

The great news is my ATT internet box was one of the things plugged into the outlet. It's running on battery power now and has the low battery light on.

Did you get water or anything?

Gfi could be bad, which is easy.

Maybe let everything dry for a day or so and see what happens. Or call an electrician and they'll fix it quick. I'm cheap though.

I highly doubt anything got wet. If it's the breaker I think it is, it's just the garage and upstairs bathroom.

Well maybe not, it says garage plugs and outside plugs. One is covered so it wouldn't have gotten wet but the one upfront is soaked. It's got a cover and and caulking on it but you can tell it's wet.

If you think the outside receptacle got wet I'd prop the cover open and let it air out the rest of the day. Try to reset the gfci again. You'll probably want to change the receptacle even if it does work though.

It has a clear cover over it and you can see moisture on the cover but I opened it up and the plug is dry.

Has a cover like this.
