Good response Bapple, but he covered that in his response this a.m. Cant remember his wording but it had something to do with the tons of money they waste in foriegn aide. Quit sending trillions in foriegn aide to these countries that hate us and spend it here at home.

Add it to their training regimen, I dont think it would add a great deal to whatever it costs now.

I'm only trying to come up with a solution that works, and I could see this working more effectively than any single solution I have seen so far.

Not sure if these numbers are completely accurate, but money is out there. Just being spent in other countries.

Harrold texas school teachers can carry.

quote:

In 2007, a school district in Harrold, Texas, made a controversial decision. It allowed teachers to carry concealed weapons on school grounds to protect students against potential shooters.

[Related: Scenes from Newtown, Connecticut ]

Now, in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary attack in Newtown, Conn., that left 28 dead including 20 children and the gunman, the school district's methods are getting a closer look. In a report from CBS Dallas Fort Worth, superintendent David Thweatt says the district's "Guardian Plan" is a way of taking charge in the chaos of a potential shooting. Teachers are the true first responders, Thweatt says. "We need to be here to protect our children. Not four, five minutes or six minutes from now."

[Related: Will Obama use executive action on gun control?]

In an interview with Fox News , Thweatt said, "As educators, we don't have to be police officers and learn about Miranda rights and related procedures. We just have to be accurate."

Thweatt isn't sure his plan would have stopped the Newtown massacre; however, he contends that "active shooters go where there is no one there to resist. The Guardian Plan addresses that fact."

The OT had some good ideas about it:

You wouldn't be bitching if the school hired 1 more teacher. Why would you bitch about instead of that being a teacher, you put an officer in?

I also think that our SRO in high school was an actual on-duty cop paid by the city. His "beat" was just working in/around school. He had special training in how to defend schools and students from shooters.

I am very torn on where fingers are being pointed.

I am a gun owner who also does like to play video games.

Banning either is a very bad idea on our freedoms.
