NOLA area freshwater fishing?

Does anyone know of good public ponds bayous or rivers in or around NOLA for freshwater fishing?

You used to be able to fish in City Park. I've seen some pretty nice bass come out of those lagoons. You had to pay a fee at the main building. Not sure if you can still do that.

Here's the information on City Park fishing. All you need now is a Louisiana freshwater fishing license.

A friend of mine is a wildlife biologist and told me out of all place they did fish testing City Park had the most large bass off all...

Sounds as though you are talking without a boat, however with a boat still some great fishing out of Pier 90 in Lake Catouatche and around Davis Pond.
