it was a bad idea

we should just have a day where every single person in the state forms a hand in hand chain and blasts them out of commission

Good.

If anyone needs me to help get rid of them I will.

If they really want to get rid of the hogs, they should have year round hog seasons on WMA and NWR's and allow baiting for hogs outside of deer season.

What are the current restrictions on guns that can be used to hunt hogs on WMAs?

ETA: from what I can tell from the regs, they still have the stupid restrictions on firearms greater than .22, centerfire, etc. for this time of year. Why isn't it any and everything if these outlaw quadrupeds are such a problem?

Won't work and would be a nightmare for enforcement

Can only use weapons legal for open season in progress. So unless its rifle season for deer, you can only hunt hogs with archery or rimfire.

I'm with you on that

Because your average hog hunter really does not want them eradicated. They treat them as sport

They have no skin in the game - do not own land and do not have I deal with the problems pigs present

The only people who truly want them gone are people that have skin in the game

That's bs. I know plenty of landowners that either don't care about them or enjoy having them to hunt year round. They can certainly be a nuisance and cause damage, but I'd bet for every landowner they damage there's one that likes them. The landowners that like them just don't speak up.

Unless you own 1000s of acres they really aren't hard to control. Throw up a corral trap and hunt them or allow hunting of them and they will leave your land to go to others.

I said the ONLY people who want them eradicated are landowners. Not all landowners

Why will it not work? And what would?

It will. In fact, too effective.

As in collateral damage? Has kaput been tested to have negative impact on bears? Or is this cautious speculation?

Because like I said people do not want them dead. They are sport

Trapping has to be very coordinated or else every pig will become trap shy. You let any Joe blow go out and put out some corn and a trap and you will create a bunch of trap shy pigs

You also don't want the average public land hunter out there at night hunting pigs. An enforcement nightmare.

This is stupid. Give me some kaput and I will spread it around as many areas as I can to eradicate these bastards. The dumbasses that let these hogs loose for sport should be beaten. You cant get rid of something that breeds like mice. Trapping is not the answer, hunting them is not the answer, POISON is. I will just buy curing salt and put in 100lbs of corn and get rid of a few myself.

No, what Ron said. Hog hunting is becoming a big deal in La. I love it myself and the meatt is way better than deer imo. I know some guys with big dogs they paid 3k for.

Let em loose and let em live.

I can hardly trust about 50% of the general public using RoundUp much less getting their hands on some real poison

For anyone for the poison, would you be okay using poison on deer? Because there's tons of farmers that have issues with deer eating their crops too. I can see why people want to use it, I just don't see it as a viable safe option.
