If this is real it sucks. I don't care about all the rumors. The guy put saltwater fishing on the map as far as tv and made Bill Dance and his contemporaries look like lure salesmen.
ETA: a kit plane is like a kit car. A huge model you put together in your garage and try to fly.

It is real, plenty of news verifying it. The plane came in a crate and was put together. That is what a kit is, same thing that took out John Denver.

My ex father in law was a tinkerer and he took the plans for a kit plane and made all his parts and built some old famous vintage plane. I'm no plane guy so I don't remember what kind it was. I wish he would have crashed his

They did alot of filming in and around Cuba. His film crew did not keep quiet about the places and company he kept while there. Also when he got his DUI, he was patroning a gay bar where underage drinkers were the norm.

Something my arse will never be found in, or around. Seems more and more I read in small plane crashes they are "kit" planes or experimental aircraft, which in some random journalists mind is the same thing. You buy a bunch of parts and put the thing together in a garage. I have flown in a lot of sketchy aircraft, some dating back to the 40s but I will never fly ride in something assembled in Bubba's garage. There are reasons that planes are put together in factories.

I enjoyed his Spanish Fly tv show.

Dude had a great show. Even went to Venice a few times after Katrina.
