So the only time my previous trucks ever got washed and cleaned was when I had the oil changed at Benny's. What are you guys using for car wash, wax, and what are you using on your dash and leather seats? I used to just use dish soap and armor all. I'm sure theres something better now.

Whatever you do, don't use tire shine.

Don't use dish soap.

If you want the simplest method and don't care about minor scratches in your paint, get some Meguiars Gold Class Soap, 2 microfiber wash mitts, and a bucket (I two buckets with a grit guard). Get a wheel cleaning brush and any wheel cleaner should do - I use Mothers California Gold cleaner. Clean the wheels first, change the water in the bucket, then clean the truck from the top down...save the rocker panels for last and use a different wash mitt for them. The rest of the process is self explanatory.

I clay bar, Polish and wax/seal two or three times a year...but that's just me. I also use tire shine, so I suck.

I just run mine through the touch less carwash, then go over that with quick detailer and a guzzler towel. Leaves very small scratches you can see on black, but probably not any other color.

How hard is it to use clay bar without messing anything up?

clay is easy, just use alot of quick detailer, keep the clay wet, and make sure and keep it fresh by folding it and throwing away overused pieces.

If you want to get rid of those scratches get you a da polisher and use some meguiars 8080 polish, then top it off with some meguiars #7 show car shine sealant and your choice of wax. meguiars #26 works great for black.

Agreed. A grown man should already know how to take care of his truck

I don't really hand wash mine anymore (or wash it at all), maybe once a year or two. When I did, and when I do, I use any car wash soap from autozone, walmart etc on the outside, bleche white on wheels and tires, bounce sheet gets bugs off of front, outside plastic I use armor all or mothers back to black (back to black works better/lasts longer, less shine), inside on dash/plastic I use turtlewax ice interior cleaner stuff. It doesn't smell arse like armor all, isn't so shiny, the greasiness goes away quicker.

Dish soap in the bed once in a blue moon when there's grease spilled or something like that.

Whatever kind of wax, usually mothers or meguires product.

My whole truck is about a year overdue for a cleaning. I ran it through an auto carwash and scrubbed the wheels with bleche white when I got new tires a month ago, that's about it. I used to use upholstery cleaner on the seats and scotch guard them once a year or so.

ETA I agree on the two buckets.

Same. The one right after hunting season is normally a 2 day event. Major pain in the arse.

I find the rub on tire shine vs spray on looked better. Spray on foam stuff, unless you were very careful, would just put way too much on the tire.

My normal method is:

- Vacuum interior and wipe down with Meguiars gold class interior cleaner
- Clean rims with wheel cleaner and brush
- Rinse truck
- Rinse truck using foam gun and Meguiars Gold Class soap
- Use two buckets...one for rinse water with a grit guard, the other with clean soapy water.
- Wash truck from the roof down
- Wash rocker panels and grill (get bugs off)
- Dry with a waffle weave towel
- Use Meguiars Ultimate Quik Wax
- Apply tire dressing...I usually prefer something applied with a tire shine applicator. Sprays and foams are messy.

If I'm clay barring/polishing/waxing/sealing I the following:
- After cleaning, pull truck under cover and clay bar while its wet (have to be quick to avoid water spots) Or just dry the truck and use a quick detailer to clay bar
- Once clay barred and dried, I use a mild polish (usually Poor Boy's World Polish with Sealant) and a mild cutting pad on my Porter Cable
- Buff off the polish then apply a coat of Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection (sometimes two coats)
- Buff that off and admire the work.

I use a lot of Meguiars products bc they're easy to find and are generally as good as top rated products. I also like Poor Boy's World bc all of their products are advertised as being able to be applied in direct sunlight and can be topped immediately with another product - typically a big no-no, but I just don't have time (or a garage) to apply a coat of Klasse sealant and let it cure for 12 hours before applying another coat. So being able to top a product with another product after 30 minutes to a few hours is a big plus for me. I'm also looking at getting a clay sponge instead of a clay bar...but I see mixed reviews on them. So not sure yet...but they seem pretty handy.

My fool proof method is listen to God. If my truck is supposed to get washed it rains if it doesn't it wasn't meant to be. I also believe scratches add character.

I do however take excellent care of the engine and operating parts. Also occasionally clean the insides... Worked well two trucks with over 400k miles on them with this system....
