I am going to give it a shot doing it myself. Ordered everything from Amazon after watching a few videos online. I ended up getting everything for a little under $400 including a coil compressor.
Any tips or other items I should look into while I have the wheels off?

Tip #1: You could've rented the spring compressor
Tip #2: I pretty much always order from rockauto. Cheaper than Amazon a lot of the time
Tip #3: Start soaking everything suspension related with a penetrant like PB Blaster

You would be better checking xterra forums. They might even have write ups that will walk you through the process. Another tip is to wear gloves, the disposable kind thats not too thin where they would rip just thinking about touching something. I like to keep my hands clean. The ladies appreciate it.
