New outdoor related term today....derecho

Earlier today I was talking to a customer in Minneapolis, he said we are under a severe weather warning for a derecho, I had never heard of it.

He said it is a straight line wind storm. I just assumed it was a type of thunder storm, but wiki describes it a little different.

Anyone ever heard that term.

the big storm that came through Baton Rouge earlier in June was a small derecho...

on radars it shows up as a strong line of thunderstorms with a bow shaped curve to them
