New Canoe/Kayak Launch

Has anyone tried the new kayak and canoe launch at Highland road park? What's Bayou Fountain like? Just looking to do some recreational kayaking but may bring the fishing poles.

I plan to try it Memorial Day weekend, haven't tried it yet. Haven't fished Bayou Fountain, only Manchac around Santa Maria. Caught some panfish and some really nice catfish.

Where do you put in at? Thinking about getting a yak pretty soon to hit up the Bayou's. Have any rec's for a beginner yaker?
