It's that time again. I've been looking around for a new pair of boots and narrowed it down to two pair. Any input by folks that have owned either boot would be much appreciated.

Danner Pronghorns are nice I've only worn them one season so not ready to give them 5 stars. As for the ten years of Muck, you must have either left them in the closet or bought ten pairs if they were made by the same company that made my Mucks.

Two pair in ten years'' I uses them about 5 days a week from Deer season in November all the way through turkey season also been to 11000 feet in them elk hunting when it was 3degrees and never let me down, never had one blister and never felt like I was dragging bricks tied to my legs when hicking up and down the Rockies...they are good in my book!

Danner boots are tough and comfortable. Had mine for 12 hunting seasons and with a little brushing and some Danner oil every now and then they just get more comfortable. I have nothing bad to say about the Irish Setters but I know Danners are well built and last.

My Danners are not only the most comfortable boots I have. They're the most comfortable shoe that's ever been on my feet.

I have worn Danner pronghorns and really like them. I am not familiar with that particular Irish Setter. My favorite boot every was a pair of Irish Setter Greenwings.

Those aren't boots. Those are hiking shoes.

I've got a pair of Woody Max Muck's and they are probably the most comfortable things I've ever had on my feet. The problem is that my calves are pretty big and in really cold weather, with several layers of clothes, the Mucks fit too tight up top.

Judging from the responses it doesn't look like I can go wrong with the Danners.

You're not necessarily wrong...

To OP. What will you be using them for? I really like my Irish Setters. I have a pair of Wingshooters that I wear pretty much year round and I just picked up a pair of pull on boots for yard work/construction/snakes that served me very well on my latest West Texas dove hunt. But for deer season I got with insulated Lacrosse's.

Hunting mainly (some fishing depending on the area). Deer, rabbits, hog. Many miles of walking during rabbit season.

Do you need them to be waterproof and insulated?

One more question before I order fellows. Do I need to order a half size larger to accommodate thick socks in the Danners?
