Center punch and carbide bit. Or you cold use a dremel to grind of surface chrome.

Why? It will flake. There are other ways of adhering things to a railing....

as the others say, you are asking for trouble if you drill a hole in something that is already chromed.

if you have to do it, be damn sure you wear safety glasses, as that shite is like a flying razor blade when you drill it.

Maybe use painters tape and drill through that so the pieces don't come off.

This damn rod holders will not stay put. Maybe glue? They just slide everywhere

You could mount your motor with that stuff.
