Ah, the beautiful Latrodectus mactans, or Southern black widow. An interesting fact about the female specimen that you posted. A female black widow spider can produce four to nine egg sacs in one summer, each containing about 100–400 eggs. Usually, eggs incubate for twenty to thirty days.

I doused it with poison pretty well, but after reading that, I might just give it a good "once over" with the blow torch.
