I am looking for a Savage 10 in .223 with a heavy threaded barrel 22" or 24", Drop box magazine. I don't care about the stock, trigger etc because they can all be changed. I would prefer a oversized bolt if possible but it too can be added later.

I have been searching for days and there are so many versions I can't seem to find one. I would normally just go down to the gun store but I am currently deployed and don't have that luxury and I haven't had much luck with google.

I found the Savage 10 TR in .308 which is exactly what I want but in .223. If anyone knows of one or something close to it. I am not opposed to Rem 700 but I prefer the Savage.

Thank you in advance!!!

Thx for the replies but you guys are running into the same problems I am. That is a great rifle but it has a internal mag. To convert the magazine to a drop box magazine is 500 dollars and that is as much as the rifle.

Gunbroker has been my go to site but I haven't been having much luck with this particular rifle.

Also another reason I am asking is because savage sometimes distributes rifles that are not in its catalog, and I didn't know if anyone had any knowledge of these "uncataloged rifles".

Ill keep looking if you guys run across anything let me know! I appreciate all the help!

To convert the rifle shouldnt be $500. At most a trip to CDI for the stock should be about $260 total for their bottom metal and inletting.

That ammoboost for the Howa is exactly what I am looking for the savage and the only one I could find was 500.

I have no experience with Howa. How are they?

Also the precision carbine is solid rifle and I like the 1/9 twist for heavier bullets. But I would be losing some FPS and wouldn't have the threaded barrel. I know I could get the barrel threaded but thats just another 100 bucks on top of manners stock and what ever else I am need depending on the rifle.

What are you planning on using the rifle for? Sounds like an interesting set up.

I have some family land with about 1200 yards straight shot. I would like a .223 target rifle to practice with out to 600 yards. Then once I have 600 down, Ill have more funds to build a 300 win mag in a similar set up to reach out to 1000 plus.

That precision carbine is a nice. My dad has one. I was just hoping to squeeze as many FPS out the barrel as I can since it will be going out to 600.
