Any suggestions? I’ll be using it for bow hunting. No, I don’t want a $1500 Swarovski

No offense, but spending 500 bucks on a rangefinder just to bow hunt seems like a massive waste of cash. Different story if he's gonna go elk hunting, but there are cheaper options capable of ranging 20-40 yards with accuracy.

So yes and no. I have a Nikon Ranger Finder, angle compensation, all that jive.

Foggy or even very humid days? Yeah you aren't getting a reading on it

Leupold RX-1200i with TBR is what I use for bow hunting in N. La and elk hunting in CO. It's $320 from Optics Planet right now and has never let me down in foggy, rainy, or snowy conditions. Just make sure you get the one with TBR for angle compensations.

There was a NIB Vortex Ranger on Archerytalk.com for $250 the other day. That'd be all you need and more.

I’ve used the same $200ish Nikon for 6 or 7 years with no issues (bowhunting. I honestly don’t think I have ever even change the batteries.

Is there any difference in golf range finders and hunting range finders? I just use my Nikon golf range finder and it works fine.

The way the software is set up can be different. Golf rangefinders are tuned to read the first thing it hits even if it's small, since they're usually aimed at the ground or a flag over clear areas. Hunting rangefinders will tune out the noise a little better, like limbs, and read the first solid object they hit. For all in tents and porpoises they work the same.

Kilo here and have had no problems. If you are patient you should be able to catch a deal on one this time of year

I’ve researched the Kilo and they look like a lot of bang for your buck. Think I’m gonna go with the 2200mr
