Looks like it's in the Bayou Sorrel area.

In the mid-1800s, German immigrant Anton Wilbert looked on the timber-rich Atchafalaya River Basin and saw the wood he needed to make cabinets and coffins.

The property, and many acquisitions after it, have stayed in the family for more than 100 years.

Now, the board that handles the properties has agreed to sell about 5,300 acres of that large landholding near Bayou Sorrel to The Nature Conservancy for restoration, education and research.

Interesting buy for them. They usually flip stuff to the Feds for NWRs or the State. Looks like they may keep this for awhile.

Looks slightly further north than sorrel.

Encroaching on me actually...

The weirdest part of this is that I eas under the impression the Wilbert and Sons board had frozen land sales.

This is the first big one I can remember in maybe 10 years.

I haven't been out there in a while, but aren't those grey tanks in that photo right off Bayou Sorrel?

Possibly. If the highlighted land area is what they bought however, that would be on the southern end.

Those red dots are all the way up by red diamond.

You're probably right and their map sucks. One of those dots appears to cover a large swath of state land.
