I just discovered this and will use it now on my visits home. LA exiles may know this already, but I thought I would share.

I didn't know that existed. Takes a little of the incentive out of a lifetime license

I used it a lot years ago for fishing. But now live back in the homeland.

You need an actual stamped copy of your birth certificate to get the license.

even if you got on the previous year and have a photo copy of your birth certificate they will send you away otherwise.

I go with this method for the 5 day hunting license as well. Come out a lot cheaper he few times I go home during hunting season.

I will be wintering back home in retirement. Although I get back at least 6 times a year now.

You can go get another "original" birth certificate pretty easy if you really do need it.

But not everyone travels with their bc and the st knows this. La does nothing to grant major breaks for us and im sure this native thing isn't honred at "every" location. The love/hate i have for this state is painfull??

Mississippians have been jumping across the line to birth their children at Lane for years just for this loop hole. Maybe not, but I heard about this several years ago from a life long Gloster, Miss. resident that was born at Lane and used this when fishing Grand Isle.

Before I retired from the military and moved back I used this a LOT on trips back home. They now have a Resident retired military license that is a great deal. $5.00 for everything excluding federal stamps

Am I missing something? I don't see a way to buy a "Native Fishing License". Only native hunting.

Great question T-head. I have reached out to the DWF for clarification. Will report back.

Correction...only retired military for the fishing license. However, the LDWF responded promptly. Might be the only department in the state that is doing their job.

Morning ,

I am sorry to inform you that we do not offer any kind of native license that would include fishing, unless you are a retired military member. I have below all of the licenses we offer for residents and non-residents, please let me know if I can help with anything

That is weird because I swore I used to do it for fishing a few years ago.
