Anyone know of any good areas for beginner bikers? Any info on the Indian Bayou hiking/atv trails on the Butte Larose exit? heard the Comite trails in BR is an awesome place, just looking for something closer.
my wife and I did the trails at Lake Fausse Pointe (in the rain) on saturday and we survived but there was more roots than trail.

Don't know of anything around Lafayette. There is a decent trail in Lake Charles at Sam Houston Jones State Park. They hold one of the LA mountain bike races there.

There is one in the Central area in EBR called the Comite River Trail. I've never ridden it, but I've heard it's decent. Nothing like Park City, though.

Any of the NWRs/WMAs will have ATV trails or walk in trails that can be biked. Of course, some of that bottomland stuff is super muddy.

The Nature Conservancy has a trail along the west side of Lake Martin that you might try, or just the gravel road that goes around the lake.

The Wild Azalea Trail west of Alexandria has some great mountain biking. Might be a bit advanced for your taste though.

Thanks y'all. We re planning on trying the Comite Trail in BR. Heard the blue trail there is more for beginners like us. We run around Lake Martin a good bit and were hoping to expand our horizons a little but that could be a good spot on bikes too

joshric, late response but my brother and other volunteers recently did some work on some old trails in Acadiana Park. Below is the facebook page he made for the new trails with lots of information on location, trail maps etc. I have not personally ridden the trails yet but plan to soon. Despite the ridicule you got for the thread title the facebook page is in fact "Mountain Bike Lafayette."

Thanks for the link. We might go try that place out tonight. Thanks or y'all's volunteer work out there too.

My wife and I picked up some Specialized bikes. We thought a good budget was around 500 each but found out we needed a little more for not bottom of the barrel bikes.
I have the Rockhopper 29 and she went with the Myka sport disc 29.

First bikes we ve had since we were kids but all really happy with the ones we got and the service at Acadiana Bike Shop in lafayette.
