Do any of you have any knowledge on these. I've been looking to buy a house and someone showed me these and don't know to much about them. They look really nice and the pricea arent bad at all. Are they worth the money and time?

I don't see a huge added advantage to the steel framing structure what so ever. There you go.

Price is the advantage. Im going to be adding an apartment on the back of my shop around the end of the year. My shop is 30' wide so it will prob be 40' long plus a carport.
I saw a house the other day and instead of bricking the front to dress it up, they had put wood over the metal, like a 10x between the rises. Actually looked good.

You sure about that? I'm not even sure those prices include the labor. it appears the price is more than what the cost of lumber wood be.

I believe you build these yourself so labor isn't included.

I didnt even look at those. Only prices Ive seen are not kits like that. Kits are more expensive than going with a list and getting everything you need like that.

SO if you are building a full size house, what contractors are going to be familar with doing this? Labor will be the same if not more than a wooden frame house? Their added benefits of structure integrity are negligible IMO. Shingles still get ripped off you still can have water leaks in house and all that with storms. Everything else is the same. You gotta be in a fricking tornado to legitimately be worried about your roof being completely torn off. If you're that close to danger of winds in a hurricane, frick it, let the storm just blow away the house completely. The cost of that steel is money you'd never get back in building a house in today's economy where it's all comes down to Price per sq ft.

Theyre actually easy to frame up and cover. Ive dont several shops and its the same thing. Then wood frame the inside walls and sheet rock.

little shed structures and stuff like that is one thing but to do it for a full sized house is another.

Metal conducts heat a LOT better (which is a bad thing) than wood. If you go metal-framed, you should probably just start with an R-10 continuous sheathing under your exterior finishing materials.

How you weight the pros and cons is up to you

I'm guessing these are prefabricated steel buildings? They should be cheaper because they can be assembled much easier and quicker. The interior would still cost just as much though and I've never seen one that I thought looked very nice.

You'd never have to worry about termites though.
