they get hit every few months around where I live, there was one hit that was over 400 lbs and did a fair amount of damage to the 18 wheeler that hit him.

I don't know that a car (or truck) can phase a bear or that you could still see the bear if that were to happen. Of course, that bear didn't look much fazed either.

I damn near hit one the other night in Tensas Parish. Ran about 20 ft in front of me. Glad because I didn't bc I may have had a beverage in the cupholder.
