I have no problem with Veron’s. About three years ago, I had Fortenberry’s in Carriere, MS slaughter two hogs for me. They recommended that I go to Double D, just south of Bogalusa, to get the ham and bacon cured. The bacon was excellent, but all the hams were too salty to eat. I called the office at Double D and all I got was an apology. They said that sometimes they don’t put enough meat in the salt solution when curing the hams. Their (Double D’s) smoked sausage is horrible. Too greasy and many bone fragments. I wouldn’t buy anything from them except maybe some head cheese.

The only grocery store sausage I buy is Richard's.

I just happened to be passing through Lacassine the other day and I stopped at a place right off I-10 at Iowa called In-Law's. They said it has only been open about a month. I tell you everything we had there was absolutely delicious, including their in house sausage. I need to go back to pick up some sausage to take out to get a real feel for it, but that place was fantastic for a highway side place.

Picked up a smoked pounce from there about a month ago. It was delicious. First time ive ever stopped there. It shall not be the last.

I didnt get any sausage so i cant say whether or not teets is better, but if i were a betting man, id bet on teets being better.

Cormier’s in Jennings is pretty good, now that Dupuis doesn’t make sausage there anymore.

Superette in Eunice is all right.

I’ve never found any good stuff east of the Basin but maybe I don’t know where to look. Always seemed undersmoked to me.
