I know nothing about knives, but my cousin s turning 30 and he loves them, and usually has one on him at all times. I quickly browsed the convoluted knife laws by state from different websites, and I'm even more confused now. He lives in Virginia On the outskirts of DC btw.

So I'm looking for an every day type knife that will last, and one that hopefully falls within the law of DC and surrounding areas. Looking to spend less than $150.

I've also had someone mention SOG brand knives, if I'm remembering correctly. Are they worth a look?

Since its for a gift I would highly recommend a Custom Benchmade. A Mini Griptilian can be had in your price range with a variety of blade options, colors, and custom engraving. I received one as a groomsman gift with my name on it, pretty awesome.

Spyderco Pacific Salt H1 blade

100% rust proof and hands down the sharpest knife I have ever seen. Runs around 75$. Highly recommend it. I have the non serrated.

That kind of leads to my next question...

Once I've decided on a blade, Do you guys recommend a certain site? Is it safe to purchase on Amazon, because reading some of the reviews has me concerned that they've had issues with knockoffs in the past? the manufacturer sites are all original pricing, and Amazon as well as other knife-centric sites are greatly discounted.
