I've got 9 live oaks on my property that are about 12 yrs old. When I bought the place 4 yrs ago there was already one of the trees that had been pushed over by a storm when it was a sapling and never corrected. My question is, Can I correct it? Should I jam a4x4 between the ground and trunk or drive a post that can pull it from the opposite side?

I know jack shite about trees, but I would go this route with a come-along and cable.

If its been pushed over for 4 years it will be very tough to straiten out. As hammertime said post a pic. Depending on size may be better to dig up and replant strait as if you setup a 4x4 to pull against you will just bend the trunk at the base and weaken the tree in the long term.

Maybe a combo of "dig up" , and "come a long" could be used. Dig on the leaning down side, and then pull straight. Brace well and water frequently. Better to wait for dormant season.
