Lexington, Mass. - Pushing to ban and SEIZE certain types of semi-auto guns

How ironic that this is potentially happening in the place where the basic principles of this country were forcibly founded and put into action.
Im not so sure about the credibility of this site - The Daily Caller
I dont think this has any real chance of actually happening, but you never know.
I found this part particular interesting...
Have they forgotten that this is the United States of America? Do they really think that citizens legally owning firearms will allow law enforcement to enter their homes and confiscate their weapons?

The article also has a provision in which Lexington’s licensed gun owners who own firearms included in the ban would be forced to sell, render inoperable, or have them seized and destroyed by the police department.

This is the slippery slope those who arent against guns have seen coming for a while. They keep proposing it and more mass shootings happen eventually they'll get more backing. If they pass one they may actually spark the powder keg thats been brewing.

So how to they plan on seizing them? Going door to door and asking for them?

Let us never forget, registration leads to confiscation...

Little by little our gun rights will be taken away.
Buy used from private seller is best option

Never like this.
Probably just like any other illegal item. Get caught with it, it's taken away with fines/jail time

They have had almost 8 years to do this. It's not happening in our lifetime without civil unrest.

Things will get nasty and they will get nasty quickly if this happens...

I'd be willing to bet the ATF keeps all NICS requests. Yeah, they're not supposed to, but when has that ever stopped the government from doing anything?

They will let them more often than they try to stop them.

Do you know how the NICS check works? The only thing that is told to the checker is I really sale is a handgun or long gun and how many. They could have a list of how many handguns or long guns you have but no SN's or brands. Would have to go to dealers and get actual 4473 form.

Yes, but requests and denials are probably stored is what I'm thinking

It seems like the people of Lexington have forgotten where they came from. We live in sad times.

How many is not sent to NICS. All they know is you wanted to purchase A handgun/Long gun/other. And if you have a CCW dated March 9, 2015 or later, nothing is sent to NICS.
ETA: if you purchase multiple handguns in a running 5 day period a separate form is sent to the ATF listing make, model, serial and caliber for each one. That's only for handguns though, not long guns or "others" such as AR lower receivers. So aside from them confiscating the 4473s there's no way for them to know if you have an AR or not.
