Anybody ever try the bb1 pro. Thinking of pulling the trigger on one. Already have a curado 200 that I like, but hear a lot of people talking up lews, so want to try one out. Gonna mostly be used for speckle trout fishing

I don't have a bb1
But have several speed spools and I love them. Very smooth and haven't had any issues

i was also thinking about the tournament pro g also. I was leaning towards bb1 pro cause it supposedly casts further, but tournament pro g looks fine too. Can get both for about same price on Amazon.

I've been a Shimano Curado guy forever. Won a BB1 in a golf tourney and I love it. Very low profile and small but well made.

I use one on my crankbait rod. Light as a feather, great line management, smooth as hell and casts a mile. Probably my favorite of all my reels.

Get the inshore version. The other models aren't really made for saltwater.

I was hoping no one would tell me that lol. I like the brake system they have on the pro. The inshore bb1 looks like it is different and not as easy to adjust. I don't know why they did that. And looking at the specs, I don't see a huge difference in material used for the two reels. The main plus I see is the three drain holes on the inshore so you can soak it in fresh water. Thing is, I don't plan on surf fishing it so not sure how big of an advantage that would be. Am I missing something with this line of thinking?

I have a BB1 and a BB1 pro. They are both fantastic. I imagine the inshore BB1 is also great. Yeah really can't go wrong with either.

I'm sure if you clean it well after each trip you won't have a problem. Maybe oil it a little more often.

Didn't realize Lew's stuff was still made. I used to work for the Chidre's at the Foley office/warehouse/shop while I was in school and I still have a bunch of the 80's model speed spools and speed sticks in my garage.
