Leupold European 3-9x40. What's it worth?

So I've got a Leupold European (30mm tube) 3-9x40 that's not mounted to anything and a buddy wants to buy it. It's in good shape, but it was part of a trade from a few years ago and I don't know what it's really worth. Is it a collector's item now that it's out of production? From what I can gather it's equivalent to say a VX II. Any clue?

Thats a great classic scope.
I have one on an old A bolt and love it.
250 a deal 350 max but still fair and I would grab it.

Yeah, it's a great scope. I just don't have a rifle to put it on, which is the real problem here.
