Anyone know much about fishing Lake Conroe and if there are any places on the lake to rent a boat for the day? I've come across a few places that will rent pontoon boats, but wanted to get some OB pointers first. Thanks.

I don't know much about the lake so I can't help.
Unfortunately we only talk about knock off yeti ice chests and cups, and scary black guns now.

What type of fishing are you looking to do?
Conroe is a good solid fishery for just about all freshwater fish.
This time of year can tough, because its summer the fish are deep and the pleasure boaters are out in full force.

If you get sea sick take medicine for it if you fish on the weekend. With all the boat traffic it is like fishing in the gulf

I used to see a lot of bass fishing along piers and structure along the south shore but it is generally deeper there. The north side has a lot more trees in the water but is shallow and probably has warmer water this time of year. The biggest obstacle is speed boats and water craft especially on the southern end.

Went to Lake Conroe for my brothers wedding. We went on a charter, and of all things to fish, Catfish, lol. We caught a nice mess. Easy thing to do is fish the bulkheads and around the boat stalls. One end of the lake had tree tops sticking about the waterline where we fished bottom for cats. There are places by the marina off the the main highway in Conroe where you can rent pontoon boats and I believe fish n ski.

Lived along Lake Conroe for several years. Fishing can be good at times and yes there are locations where you can rent both pontoon and ski boats. The lake can get rough at times !!

Looking for bass fishing. I appreciate the input and will check it all out. Also I'll make sure I bring along a knockoff yeti product to make this an "official" OB thread. Thanks guys.

This time of year on Texas reservoirs, especially those with previous or current grass carp problems, largemouth can be predictable and fair to good if you know what you are doing.
There is relatively little grass in the lake so, boat docks, marinas, and bulkheads make up most of the visible structure. You can try to target these areas early and late with topwater or shallow running hardbaits. There will be some bass that will hang around these structures all day but most will move up shallow near dusk and back out near dawn. If you want to stay shallow you can try shooting the docks with texas rigged worms, swim jigs, heavy spinner baits, or square billed cranks making sure to bounce baits off the pilings.
The bass will school up on deeper points, channels, humps, and if you are lucky enough to find them man made brush piles. Use a quality recent topo map to find likely spots to fish and keep moving until you get good marks on your graph. if you can find deep water structure near shallow water structure, that is where I would focus. If the weather is stable for 5-7 days prior pay attention to the thermocline on your graph and try to hit main lake humps and primary points that intersect that depth. Rain, or severe winds will potentially break up the thermocline and can throw off the summer bite.
The big Marina on 105 puts large Christmas tree brush piles out every year. You may be able to convince them to give you some info.
Good lures for those deep humps are DD22 or Rapala DT18 cranks, little George tail spinners, jigging spoons, swim jigs, and of course Carolina rigs.
Don't be surprised if you find a large school of white bass or hybrids early morning either and make sure you keep a rod rigged with mono and a 2-3" top water bait just for them.
BTW Papas on the Lake has great muffulettas, onion rings, and cold beer and plenty of eye candy.

In the words of my wife, "I'm not mad, I'm disappointed."
I like guns, shooting, and bargain deals as much as the next guy, but I like hunting and fishing a lot more, and everytime some lunatic with a scary black gun decides he's gonna off a bunch of people, this board turns into concealed carry, AR, clip and ammo hoarding central. I'm not against it, just pretty repetitive.

Thanks for all the input. Won't be going for another couple of weeks, but looking forward to it.
