I work at a restaurant in Baton Rouge and every year when we get crawfish in (usually November) the hawks and owls show up. Throughout the season we kind of train them i guess and entertain a few lucky customers. Sometimes on mornings when we don't boil they'll sit in their usual spot screeching until someone feeds them. Here is a video from about a month ago of one our our boilers chunking one up to a waiting rapture, LINK.

Yall kick arse at boiling crawfish. I have never been big on eating restaurant crawfish, but I make an exception at Sammys.

Yes he did.

ETA: I'll probably have some more videos later. I'm trying to find the one where an employee put a pot on his head like a helmet and let the owl snatch a crawfish off it.

I highly doubt as hard as he threw it you could hear it hit the ground.

that was the guy clapping for the completion. Crawfish aren't anywhere near that loud when they hit the ground. It sounds more like a soft crush when the hawks miss (very rare) or are too stuffed and aren't interested.

Don't know enough about them to tell.

Would have been cooler if the guy hadn't called it "Hey, Birdy".

Neat video.

I hooked a redtailed hawk with a zara spook once. Made a long cast and it swooped in and grabbed it.

I fed it line and it landed and pulled the bait off its tallon and flew off.

Pretty cool though.

Probably better story than me

Hooking a Heron in the wing with a spinner bait, reeling it all the way into the bank, grabbing that bastard by the beak (Steve Irwin style), pulling the hook out and letting go
