Kayak Fishing Grayton Beach 30a?

Heading to Grayton beach next week for a camping trip. We are bringing some recreational kayaks for playing around, but I am wondering should I bring my hobie and try and get some fishing in? Any good area's around or tips to try?

Just texted downsoutbdave for you. He was there a couple months ago and fished that area

Lake Powell is right up the road and an excellent yak spot. Don't let the name fool you, it's saltwater.
Have friends that have paddled out a mile into the gulf though in that area and caught all sorts of fish, including kings and mahi.

You should for sure. I'm heading there next weekend to try and catch some Pelagics. They seem to be tearing up the sailfish. And they are also catching some mahi. There is a lot of love bottom in the area. Catch some bait and try some bottom fishing. Looks like they've got it all over there.

we were there 2 weeks ago. The charters that launch off the beach don't go very far past the sandbar to fish, you could easily fish the area with a kayak. It was all shite fish compared to Louisiana offshore but they caught a lot of them

so bottom fishing in the gulf. Any luck in the lake at the park? Assuming it's brackish water with possibly some specks or reds in there.

Or trolling in the gulf with a king with a cig or just a live sig. Catching line bait is easy. I've only fished there once. But we caught kings, bonito, red snapper, cubera snapper and mangroves. I don't know anything about the lake. I've heard the Kings have been really thick lately.

Looks like its going to be great at the end of the week. Forecast is calling for the surf to be flat from Thursday to Sunday. I'll be headed that way after work Wednesday. We will be fishing Thursday-Saturday for sure. Yellow PA and a Dune Outback
