I've been named President of the Tipton family pontoon boat search comittee

Out of the blue Mow Mow Tipton decided we needed a pontoon boat for the family.
We used to have a larger 21' deep V welcraft for family outings but that was sold when I got my Champion. Now that I have youngins of my own she is wanting something more family friendly than a bass boat. Fwiw, I ain't selling the bass boat.
I guess, I first need education. What brands to look for, what to avoid? I know enough about outboards to avoid Force motors and under powered vessels.
Our budget is roughly $10,000. For that I seem to be seeing a lot of early 2000's models. I want no less than 20', but no more than 24'. Most engines seem to be in the 60 to 90 hp range for this size.
Any of you boys with a sever gambling addiction got a pristine one hid out in a time capsule somewhere?

Hasn't gotten that bad yet, Hoss.

I'm joking, but the few I physically looked at all seemed to have stained carpet, broken seat backs and rough upholstery.
I don't know if I need to bump up the budget or just keep sifting until I find a diamond in the rough. I honestly don't know if one would exist in our budget.

From what I have been told, those things are easy to update. You have a blank canvas to add furniture as you see fit. May want to get a deal on one in good structural shape but with bad seating, then just bolt on new seats, etc.

We made a bad arse floating blind out of a 18' one a few years ago. Took it all the way down and started with marine grade 3/4" plywood floors and started back up. "Large Marge the Duck Hunting Party Barge" was her name.

For sure. I'm in no hurry to buy tonight. I literally just got called up to the big leagues this past weekend.
My kids are 2 and 4. I suspect this may go into the fall/winter before anything actually happens.
I'm just looking for suggestions about models, what people like or don't like or options to look for or avoid.

its more construction than brands.
Pontoons are kind of like trailers, you have to look at the parts. sure there are some great brand names out there, but there just as many if not more non brand names.
They are for the most part easily upgradable as well. so you if you see something you like or layout you like, yo can probably change it

Someone is downvoting every post on the whole board. Gotta feel bad for someone that passive aggressive. Did yall get another OBC alter banned or something?

There's nothing I take more seriously than how many up/down votes I get on tigerdroppings. I hope your pontoon boat doesn't have a bottle opener.
