Caught 20 something reds between three of us. Also landed my first red on the fly

ETA: And Bluemoons gets an assist for letting me use some of his flies

Well done.

To hijack this thread, Elmer ' s Island was going off today too. Caught dozens of trout between 5:30 and 9:15. They were hitting live shrimp, Vudu shrimp, and white/red suspending jerkbait. No gator trout but you could catch your limit.

How are y'all fishing in that much grass? Weedless spoons along the edges?

Yep, the surf was down and the water was decently clean. They were just on the other side of the first sandbar.

Mullet and bait fish everywhere with dolphins tearing around chasing them. You could hear the trout croaking all around you. It was awesome.

I prefer catch and release but I did keep 4.

Pretty much. Also ripping it through some grass.
Most every red was sight fished tho.

I'd like to get a kayak sometime and fish the marsh, I've never fished cover that think though. Is that a weedless gold spoon you used? What else do you use in that brush?

Yeah I normally throw a weedless gold spoon but I will also sometimes throw a weedless swim bait. (Matrix shad or killer flats minnow with a gamakatsu lead belly hook)
