I put down the Scott's pre emergent weed and Feed in March. Is it time for another round of some turf builder?

What kind of grass do you have?
If you have centipede or St Aug you shouldn't fertilize again if you already did with you weed and feed. Those grasses only need one to 2 applications a year. To much fertilizer can cause brown patch

My grass grows too fast as it is, and I'm not a fan of yard work.

dig it up and make sure and weed and feed at least 3 times per year, gonna take a while like a year or so, but eventually you'll start winning the fight

I was battling that clover stuff and conquered that and then like a week later started seeing that stuff pop up.

Go to Chastant Bros on Pinhook and ask them. They mix their own fertilizers which are seasonably appropriate. They also have some week killers other than Atrazine which can be used during the hot months.
