A bunch of the most recent reviews on Golfnow claim it's in great shape. The last time i played there was about 3 years ago and it was in such deplorable condition that I thought they would just shut down.

What's reality out there right now? What's the appropriate price to pay?

I played it 4 weekends ago. It was in the best shape I've ever seen it in. I booked on golfnow for $20 and it was well worth it.

I played Lakewood the following weekend, and felt that Belle Terre was in better shape

New owner has put a lot of money into the course; redid the greens last year and have been doing drainage and bunker work. Was pretty good a few weeks back but all the rain the last few weeks had it closed for several days. Still has some areas that don't drain well but it's certainly the best it's been in many years, worth playing for sure.
