Anchor under the bridge, it's hot as hell out there.

I would pay attn to the tide. The year I did it, we were in no rush to get out there, and we should have. The outgoing tide was so strong you could barely fish. Most of the fish were caught well before.

If you can find them get some big/heavy jigheads(1-2oz) and some Gulp 6" mullets. Those catch well.

It'll be hot as hell, make sure to pack enough to keep yourself hydrated, sunscreen, big hat, shirt with sleeves, etc. I'd imagine come about 10am a ton of people will start heading in due to heat.

RTB is practically a fish lottery more than it is an actual tournament. There's a shite ton of people out there so odds are there will be some lines tangled at some point. Don't take it too serious and have fun.

Drinking a lot of water will help also.

I have quite a few friends that will be fishing RTB this weekend. Wife’s birthday, so I’m out.

Live mullet on Carolina rig, or cracked crab. Low tide for Saturday is at 2 pm.

Are the tickets really $65? All other rodeos are $25.

It's been several years since I've done it but they served boiled shrimp on Friday afternoon/evening, you got a decent shirt/goodie bag, and they had a really good raffle too. $65 is about on par with all the other big kayak events.

do not anchor under the bridge, you will catch nothing. left side of pass, 50 yards from end of rocks

I've seen people win it from under the bridge.

Lots of yaks out here already. Even one guy with a rooftop tent on his trailer outside of bridgeside. Glad there is a breeze tonight.

Obviously I'm not going, but have fun. I used to fish catfish tournaments on the Missouri, Mississippi and Ohio Rivers back in the day and always had a good time. Heck, I'd do it again now that I have time to do it but I'd have to get another boat or Jerry rig a livewell because they require a minimum of 50 gallons, some even more than that.
