New Coosa run $1250, with the HD being $1700

You may be able to find a used one under $700, but would be hard pressed to get a new one for that.

Something to also consider is buying a demo model from Massey's, Backpacker or Pack and Paddle; call them up and see what they have.

lsuson, have you looked at the new Wildy ATAK? Looks good and is in the same price range of the HD Coosa. May be worth a look!

I really like the looks of that one but I didn't notice any rod holders.. which I thought was strange

I haven't looked at them. For now I'm sticking with Jackson. It's been good to me. Selling my Cuda soon

get on Craigslist and buy a good quality used boat. Manta Ray, Tarpon, Ultimate, Commander. All nice boats that come up for sale within your range.

In addition to the other advise re used kayaks, call up Masseys and ask if they have any demos for sale.
